OMG. I just attended the sneak premiere of Batman Begins. The first 15 minutes of the movie was like a little game of Spot the Extremely Awesome Actor. Michael Caine, Rutger Hauer, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and of course Christian Bale who I've been a fan of ever since I saw The Machinist a couple of weeks ago. It was so awesome to finally see Gary Oldman not playing a bad guy. As soon as I saw him on the screen, I thought he was a bad guy. But he wasn't! What a surprise! Can't say I'm a great fan of Katie Holmes' acting, but she isn't really bad either, I just can't stop thinking about Dawson's Creek >_< ... if nothing else, she's quite nice to look at.
I must say, compared to the other Batman films I've seen, this one is definitely the best one. The caricatured bad guys have always been a nuisance - I mean... Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze? Come on... I like Arnold for his self-irony, but I can't possibly take him seriously. But in this one, there are no ridiculous cartoon bad guys, and the movie is generally relatively realistic.
And damn... the actors. I can only pray that I will ever see at least three of those actors in the same movie again. I'm surprised the screen didn't collapse under the combined awesomeness of all six of them.
